General guidance

Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, hairspray, and cosmetics; apply these before putting on jewelry.
Store pieces separately in a soft pouch or lined box to prevent scratches and tangling.

Daily cleaning

Wipe with a soft, lint‑free cloth after each wear to remove oils and residue.
For light cleaning, use warm water and a few drops of mild dish soap: soak 1–2 minutes, gently brush with a soft toothbrush, rinse, and pat dry.

Deep cleaning (safe for most gold, silver, and gemstone jewelry)

Soak in warm soapy water for 5–10 minutes, brush gently, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely.
For sterling silver tarnish, use a silver polishing cloth or a silver cleaner following the manufacturer’s instructions. Avoid silver dips on jewelry with porous gemstones or plating.

Care by metal

Solid gold (14k–18k): Low maintenance; clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush.
Gold‑plated / vermeil: Avoid abrasive cleaners and prolonged water exposure; clean gently with a soft cloth.
Sterling silver: Prone to tarnish—store in anti‑tarnish bags and polish occasionally.
Stainless steel: Very durable; clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush.

Care by gemstone

Diamonds and hard gemstones (e.g., sapphire, ruby): Typically safe for warm soapy water and gentle brushing.
Porous or soft stones (e.g., opal, pearl, turquoise, amber, lapis): Avoid soaking, ultrasonic cleaners, steam, and harsh chemicals—clean with a damp cloth and dry immediately.
Treated or coated stones: Follow any care instructions provided; avoid abrasive polishing.

Settings, prongs & mountings

Inspect settings regularly for loose stones or bent prongs. If you notice looseness, stop wearing the piece and have it checked by a professional jeweler.
Avoid knocking rings or bracelets against hard surfaces.

Plated finishes & surface treatments

Refrain from rubbing plated pieces against abrasive surfaces. Plating will wear over time; consider re‑plating by a jeweler if desired.

Ultrasonic cleaners & steam

Use ultrasonic and steam cleaners only for durable, untreated stones set in sturdy settings; avoid for porous stones, fragile settings, or pieces with fractures. When in doubt, consult a jeweler.

Professional maintenance

Have fine jewelry professionally inspected and cleaned once a year (more often for frequently worn pieces).
Request prong tightening, re‑polishing, re‑plating, or stone tightening from a reputable jeweler as needed.

Travel & storage tips

Use a travel jewelry case with individual compartments to prevent tangling and damage.
Keep high‑value pieces insured and record serial numbers, receipts, and photos.

Emergency & repair

If a stone falls out, keep the setting and any loose stones and contact us or a jeweler promptly.
